Spring at Slane Castle Estate

Spring is always a glorious season on Slane Castle Estate as our corner of Ireland’s Ancient East comes to life for a new year. We have some enticing events on over the next couple of months that are getting quite a bit of attention.
First up are our Spanish nights when a decidedly continental flavour descends upon the Castle. Our new dining series, Noches Españolas (Spanish Nights) is presented by head chef Yasmina Bustillo Diez celebrating the flavours of her native Spain. A Spanish Cocktail, Tapas appetisers and a Spanish menu – how good does that sound? The cost is €75 per person and booking is online. Fancy making a night of it? A limited number of overnight packages are available but get in quickly before they’re gone! Two are on Valentine’s Weekend – now that sounds romantic!

Our Afternoon Tea and Mini Tour experience takes place on selected dates (below) with a Valentine flavour on Sunday 18th February and a special welcome to Mums on Mother’s Day which falls on Sunday 10th March. Combining a short, guided tour with the grand tradition of afternoon tea, this is a delightful way to experience the Castle in a very personal fashion. It begins in the impressive main hallway with fine Doric columns, impressive plasterwork and the Conyngham family coat of arms. Enjoy a glass of Prosecco as you take your seat in the remarkable circular King George IV Ballroom. Afternoon tea is presented on elegant, tiered cake stands and is a perfect balance of savoury and sweet treats. Afterwards our personable tour guide will give an enthralling insight into Slane Castle and its fascinating history intertwined with that of the Conyngham family who have lived here since 1703.
